Rev. Otis L. Anderson, Jr.

Rev. Otis L. Anderson, Jr., was born in Crossett, Arkansas, April 16, 1933, the oldest of six children born to the union of the late Otis Anderson, Sr. and Geneva (Harris) Anderson. He married his childhood sweetheart, Lois Jean (Samuels) Anderson. In January, 2010, they celebrated 56 years of wedded bliss. They are the proud parents of Dawna (Anderson) Huey, Brian, and Geoffrey and the grandparents of Aja, Desmond, twins Darrielle and Darrice, Alonzo and Brianna.

Rev. Anderson began his formal education in Crossett, Arkansas and then his family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Dusable High School, University of Illinois, Wilson Junior College and finally, Chicago Baptist Institute. He confessed his hope in Christ at the Greater Harvest Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Louis Boddie. Served as Pastor of Greater Harvest Junior Church and Sunday School Superintendent.

On December 3, 1953, Rev. Anderson acknowledged his calling to the Gospel Ministry. He was ordained in 1960 at the Greater Mount Olive Church, under the leadership of the late

Rev. M.G. Ward. He has been affiliated with the following churches, Associate Minister, Greater New Morning Star Church in Los Angeles, California; Assistant Pastor, Greater Mount Olive Church; Administrative Assistant, Monumental Baptist Church ( Pastor Dr. D.E. King); Pastor Broadview Baptist Church, Broadview, Illinois; Pastor, Old Ship of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor, Cathedral Missionary Baptist Church, 1975 to present.

Rev. Anderson is a dedicated Man of God and a true humanitarian. Hundreds of people have been fed under his leadership and supervision. Cathedral Feeds the Hungry every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month and distributes holiday food baskets to needy families.

Rev. Anderson and the Cathedral Missionary Baptist Church is in deed of a pillar of strength, not just in the immediate community, but likewise in the city of Chicago. For the past 25 years, he has helped and inspired many through his ministry at the Cathedral Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Andersons untiring efforts and contributions to his fellow man have been an inspiration to all.
